UX: Rework global concept of menu, navigation and data entity hierarchy
[EPIC] Extend Show Management Area and improve ... (#149 - closed)
Parent:UI logic
Suggestions and considerations for UI/UX improvements:
- Currently the first show in the show list is pre-selected, even though the show is not active. This does not meet a typical usage scenario.
- The current Master > Detail logic of the show tab (singular vs. plural). When clicking the menu item, the list of all shows should appear. In the list the user should be able to select one of the shows as their active show.
- It might be beneficial for the UX to render the currently selected show in a Breadcrumb Style like
All Shows > %SHOW_TITLE%
Potential issues and unsolved areas:
- We should think how the UI/UX logic and flow of actions behaves in combination with the calendar and media management
Details to be defined. There will be a mini UI/UX workshop.
Proposal
Overall menu structure
[ Shows | Calendar ]
The Shows
menu item lists all shows. So when selecting a show from the list, there are following sections for the show page:
[ (A) Breadcrumb: All shows > Show title ]
[ (B) Show Header with most vital info ]
[
(C) Tabs to select one of the following:
L Broadcasts / Episodes (#P1)
L Media (#P2)
L Settings or General Info (#P3)
]
[ (D) Content of the selected tab ]
Other input:
- (B) Most important info can be: Title, Subtitle, Description, Image, Logo, Optionally info like date/time of upcoming timeslot, schema
- The Show Selector Dropdown is mainly for Quick Access for ProKo Use. Its current features like "create show" or filter options will be part of the new show list view. This will make the dropdown more lightweight again.
- Tabs as part of (C) are ordered by priority, starting with the most used UI elements (episodes) and ending with the least used (general show settings).
- Management of Episode details eventually will be a sub interface (page, collabsable area etc.) of the episode tab in (D)
- Whenever there is the use of the term "Playlist ID" it will be replaced by "Playlist", omitting the ID part, since we now have playlist selectors.
@kmohrf offered to provide mockups with some variations as a basis for final decisions.
