Active status of shows - Input from Programme Coordinators
We have started a discussion among the devs if/how the is_active
flag in steering and dashboard should be handled. Initially it was just a performance hack that signified if a show has timeslots in the future. At the last work lab in Linz (2019-08-10/11) we changed the flag so that it can be set manually to signify if a show is active or not - independent of which schedules and timeslots it has.
So far the discussion pointed out that it might not be a good idea to mix automated with manual forms of setting an active state of a show. But there might be use cases where one or another is needed. Ideally we could emulate manual use cases with the automated is_active
status by manipulating the schedules/timeslots of a show.
In order to find the most feasible solution we have to collect all necessary use-cases that are related to some sort of flag or filter that signifies if a show is active or not. For that we also need to gather input from programme coordinators. If you come a cross a new use case either edit this issue description or post below and @jackie will update the issue description:
Use-cases for a flag/filter/other kind of information that signifies if a show is active or not:
- quick queries for all shows that have timeslots in the future
- display alumni shows on a station website, which should not be listed in the current programme overview of all shows
