[STORY] as a host I want to get an info on uploads in progress, so I can do something else in the meantime
Uploading large files takes time, and in many cases users want to do something else meanwhile (e.g. writing the show info or planning other shows). For that reason, there was the suggestion that the dashboard could display a hint somewhere (e.g. in the sidebar) about uploads in progress, so users can see this better even when navigating to other dashboard areas. Now the upload progress is only shown very small on the respective upload page.
This came up as a suggestion during the COMMIT radio tech meeting on 20/11/23.

I'll validate this feedback with the ProKos, it is part of the upcoming feedback round that I'll do over the mid-end of August. I'll tell before next sprint if we can cancel this or not. IMHO the basic thing that users need to know is: do I need to stay on the page as long as the upload runs, or can I navigate to other pages in the dashboard without interrupting the upload? Maybe @kmohrf can answer this directly.

I'd suggest to thread this as a nice-to-have convenience feature. The actual benefit compared to the effort of the implementation, tells me we should schedule it for post-1.0. @fm_margarethem are you okay with that?

I am ok with moving this. My question was only for documentation: the important thing for users (esp. Prokos) is that they can work on several things in parallel in AURA while a large upload is running. I've tested this on dashboard.aura by starting an upload of a 1h-lossless file (which has about 600-something MB), while opening AURA on a second browser tab and uploading another file for another show. This worked out nicely.
Such a workflow is crucial for ProKos who have to do a lot of work and they cannot wait for every upload to finish before doing something else.

This is indeed a very good point, I haven't thought about yet. ProKos of small radios, which do the uploads for their users, rather than using the customer-self-service features of AURA might greatly benefit from background uploads.
As a initial solution, this can be solved by having multiple browser windows open. We should carefully check for any bugs coming with this workflow.
